The chairmanship of Tata Motors and Tata Steel after Ratan N Tata steps down at the end of 2012 appears to be an open question. It will be up to the new Tata group chairman, Cyrus Mistry, whether he decides to succeed Tata in heading two of the largest group companies or opt for new chairpersons for them.
Ahead of the board meeting that afternoon, in fact only minutes before that, then chairman Cyrus Mistry was given an opportunity to step down, it is learnt. But, Mistry declined
NCLT in its judgement said: "The removal of Cyrus Mistry as executive chairperson was because the board lost confidence and not because they were contemplating that he would cause discomfort to Ratan Tata, N Soonawala and others.' "The Board is competent to remove an executive chairman. Mr Mistry's removal from the position of director came because he admittedly sent out company information to the I-T (department), press, and came out in public against the board and the trust."

India produced 179 more super-rich people this year led by Adani Group's Gautam Adani who amassed a whopping wealth of Rs 365,700 crore or more than Rs 1,000 crore daily, and the number of such individuals has crossed the 1,000-mark. Geographically, five more cities are home to super-rich taking the total number of super-rich cities to 119 and these 1,007 individuals cumulatively added 51 per cent more wealth in 2021. The average wealth increased by 25 per cent this year that also saw the livelihoods of thousands of people being hit by the coronavirus pandemic.
